Mipcom sees surge in demand for UK drama productions
News from Mipcom backs up Pact’s annual UK Television Survey which found that demand for UK television shows abroad has increased by 5% over the past 12 months to £1.28bn. The US continues to be the biggest home for British programming, but an increase in demand from China, France and Poland have all helped to drive the growth of UK productions.
Big-budget dramas in particular dominated Mipcom, with British producers responsible for some of the most notable deals at the market. Pact’s Chief Executive, John McVay, noted that UK television productions continue to be among the ‘most highly regarded and sought after globally’.
Such increased international demand for new British originated drama content continues to make UK creative businesses an exciting investment proposition.
