Georgia Oakley’s debut film Blue Jean, supported by Great Point, received a total of 13 nominations at this years BIFAs and walked away with the best lead performance and the best supporting performance at the end of the night.
Following it’s screening at the Venice film festival, Blue Jean takes us through the story of a gay PE teacher battling prejudice in 1980s Britain. The social drama about homophobia in Thatcher-era Britain earned nods for Best British Independent Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Debut Director alongside a Best Ensemble Performance nomination for the film.
