BBC Maestro

Maestro Media Limited, (trading as BBC Maestro), is an e-learning platform providing a range of digital classes from well-known, highly respected TV and creative industry personalities. The focus will be on UK talent and the company will leverage its partnership with BBC, a globally-recognised brand, to further encourage the biggest UK celebrities into the e-learning space.

Investment Case

E-learning and online digital classes are a huge growth area. The global MOOC (‘Mass Open Online Courses’) market size is expected to grow from $3.9 billion in 2018 to $20.8 billion by 2023. Masterclass, the internationally recognised MOOC platform, was started in 2014 with the idea of having well-known experts in their field become e-learning instructors and has become a phenomenon worldwide, working almost exclusively with US talent. A wealth of globally recognized UK expert instructors, coupled with the prestige of the BBC brand, provides an enormous opportunity for a new player to enter the market. Designed in partnership with BBC Studios, BBC Maestro will offer courses taught by some of the world’s leading creators, with the initial talent roster including Gary Barlow, David Walliams, Jed Mercurio and Marco Pierre White.

Growth Strategy

The capital invested by Great Point Ventures EIS will be used for overheads, marketing and the costs involved with attracting the biggest names to the platform.
